1940 MODEL 500, 600. The 1940 Mac Key wasn’t called a Mac Key; they were given
new designations as the Model 500 and 600. The Model 500 is the standard, black wrinkle
finish, while the Model 600 was the deluxe “marbleite” finish. The key was essentially the
same as the 1939 key with some minor improvements. The key can be easily distinguished
from the 1939 version by its lack of a nameplate; two small decals were applied to the key,
one to the top of the t-bar to state if the key is standard or delxue, the other on the base
stating it was made by T.R. McElroy. Finding decals that are intact are highly valued by
collectors. 1940 was the end of the line for the traditional-style Mac Key.
